UX & Product Writing Lead

We’re looking for an experienced and passionate UX Writer to join our team of Lemonade Makers. In this role you will be responsible for crafting the copy found throughout our digital products and experiences. You will use your gift for language, depth of product knowledge and passion for customer-centricity to create intuitive, delightful experiences for our users. You will be able to think conceptually and tactically about product copy for web and mobile interfaces, and help bring those ideas to life through words.

You’ll work with people in a variety of UX design-related jobs including product managers, marketers and CX teams. Collaborating with each, you’ll strive to establish cohesive language and a unified voice across products and platforms. You’ll regularly use empathy, logic and hard data to inform content choices. You will play a key role in the product discovery and development process, working hand-in-hand with cross-functional teams to build and execute effective content plans. You will drive guidelines and best practices and help provide direction and mentorship to writers and support to peers.

The ideal candidate is a stellar writer with a portfolio of work that demonstrates how you’ve used insight and copy to create simple and delightful user experiences. Your writing style is concise, contemporary, simple and direct but also filled with imagination, optimism and transparency.  You know how to explain complex concepts with very few words, in a clear, conversational, and engaging way—and when to add dashes of magic.  You’re skilled in UX language and design and love ideas and strategy as much as writing, testing, and iterating. You have a proven track record of developing product copy and content systems for brands who place a high degree of importance on the integrity of the customer relationship. Experience working for high growth DTC and challenger brands is a must. 

In this role, you will:

  • Understand user needs and mindsets across digital platforms and channels. You'll grow your first-hand knowledge of our products, customer segments and behaviors and advocate for the user throughout the copy development process. 
  • Craft human, encouraging, and forward-thinking copy that drives product adoption and builds brand loyalty. Make content decisions based on qualitative insights, quantitative data, our voice/tone, and the vision for our larger brand narrative. 
  • Collaborate with designers, product managers, marketers, and copywriters to deliver concise and elegant product copy across our digital ecosystem. This includes our website and landing pages, apps, SMS and push notifications, and select transactional emails.
  • Plan, write, edit, test, and improve UX copy, including product descriptions, interface language, product names, navigational nomenclature, and in-product education and marketing messaging.
  • Craft wireframes, mockups, and task flows to effectively communicate UX content ideas.
  • Create and organize messaging frameworks and systems for our various products and audiences. Help strategize, implement, and maintain a consistent content strategy throughout the product experience, deeply understanding how customers interact with the brand.
  • Document evolving content and brand standards for UX experiences that allow our teams to move and build new experiences quickly. Outline copy accessibility standards and ensure all digital channels adhere to these standards - frequently performing audits and writing updates
  • 8+ years of relevant professional experience; at least 2 years of experience in UX copywriting on the brand side (vs. agency).
  • Experience working with product managers, product designers, product marketing teams, researchers, and data analysts to build exceptional product experiences.
  • High degree of comfort translating complex tech and business concepts into clear and engaging writing with a strong, consistent voice.
  • Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills which use data to inform copy decisions.
  • Super strong orientation to detail - both in word selection for micro-copy as well as organization and documentation of ideas and projects.
  • Experience developing information architecture for complex documentation sets or product suites.
  • Knowledge of online technology and related products, including web and mobile UI and tools.
  • Familiarity with user experience research principles and practices and how to use data to provide informed user insights.
  • Ability to lead, collaborate and influence (with and without formal authority) engineering, design and product management teams.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
