Senior Actuarial Associate
We’re looking for an experienced actuary who is ready to revolutionize insurance, bringing actuarial discipline to all kinds of questions—from distribution to underwriting, claims, and everything in between.
In this role, you’ll be managing rate levels, building advanced pricing tools, and leveraging competitive data science to optimize our customers’ experience—ensuring fairness and accuracy in pricing using the most advanced predictive modeling techniques.
Responsibilities
- Build technical pricing models to identify, analyze, and interpret trends using statistical techniques
- Leverage this data to uncover and present ways to improve various facets of the business’s decision making process Act as subject matter expert regarding our state rating plans and rate indications
- Contribute to predictive modeling projects, working in close collaboration with the Data Science team
- Identify opportunities and risks in the adequacy of pricing through sensitivity analyses; identify areas for pricing and underwriting action based on ongoing monitoring of results
- Conduct detailed actuarial analyses as required ( occasionally working with complex or partial data) to produce timely, accurate, insightful, and commercially appropriate outputs
- Build a knowledge base of competitor rating strategies and the overall competitive landscape
Requirements
- 3 years of P&C actuarial experience; nearly/newly qualified actuary preferred
- College degree in Actuarial Science or related field
- Personal lines experience strongly preferred
- General knowledge of data science programming languages such as R or Python (preferred), and proficiency in database query tools such as SQL
- Broad understanding of predictive modeling concepts, including supervised and unsupervised machine-learning approaches such as GLMs, decision trees, gradient boosting machines, random forests, and clustering
- Experience adapting predictive models into structured rating plans
- Sensitivity to model transparency and ethics
