Head of Actuarial

Soho, New York | Underwriting | Full-time

We are looking for an analytically minded, hands-on self-starter who can lead our actuarial function. You’ll be responsible for building a world-class actuarial function across the globe, attracting and recruiting and taking advantage of Lemonade’s data advantages to build a profitable, successful company.  

This entails overseeing our pricing strategy, including analyzing and managing countrywide pricing levels for core products, as well as lots of add-on coverages and products. You’ll also be responsible for setting reserves, and ensuring we understand our profitability and communicate our results clearly and effectively.  You’ll be a key part of identifying and managing risk, helping to shape our reinsurance strategy.

The ideal candidate for this role is tech-savvy, independent, driven, and optimistic—an independent thinker who is excited about changing the status quo, and wants to use their actuarial expertise and judgment to improve pricing, reserving, and risk management. 

  • 7+ years of P&C actuarial experience; ACAS equivalent, or greater
  • College degree
  • Fast learner, self-driven. Willing and excited to get your hands dirty
  • Personal lines and homeowners experience strongly preferred
  • Analytical, with a strong ability to identify trends, communicate results, and take action
  • Comfortable with and adaptable to new technologies
  • Comfortable with a fast-paced, flexible environment
  • Comfortable with  presenting to internal stakeholders
  • Experience with growing and managing a team
